I am a big fan of St Croix Rods. I have a number of them. I had a Mojo Bass MJS68MXF. I loved that rod. Sadly I broke it. Totally my fault. But St Croix always wants to make their customers happy. This was right when the new Trigon rods came out. I was expecting an original model as I assumed they kept some back for warranty replacements. But nope. They sent me one of the new Trigon rods. My first impression was not good. The blank is perfect just like the original. The guides I like better. So what was the problem? The handle. Not a fan of the triangle. And it feels so cheap. Feels like a piece of trash. I have had $60 rods that had a nicer handle on it. I have heard some people are having trouble tightening up their reels on them. At first, I did as well but I moved the reel around and it set in and I was able to tighten it. but I thought it was going to break. I kept waiting to do this review because I did not want to say anything bad about St Croix. But I have to be honest. And the price they are charging now for these rods. They have put them out of my reach. Charge more for a cheaper feeling rod? I don't think so. I guess I am going to be buying other rods if they stick with these handles. How could they not see how cheap these handles are? But I guess it is all about perspective. Because some people love them and think they are great. I am glad they like them. But my experience and feelings are not the same.

The Trigon grip is the real deal. Everything about it is comfortable and just feels natural. When you land a fish you get a real feel of just how perfect the Trigon fits in your hand.. It’s lightweight and balances perfectly with my Ultegra 25. I throw mostly shaky heads and Neko rigs. This rod has been amazing for what I want. Going forward I hope the Trigon is offered in other models as well. The deep purple is also just beautiful especially when the sun shines on it.

St. Croix Mojo Bass Trigon Spinning Rod 6'10" MLXF

I recently received the new Mojo Bass Trigon 6'10" MLXF Spinning Rod as a replacement for the older version of the same rod in the same length and action, which I broke. I was concerned that the length of the handle would be an issue for the rod holder setup in my boat, but it worked out fine, with 1/4" to spare. The new Mojo seems to be a shade faster than the older version, which is great! The details and finish on the Trigon are very nice, and I look forward to many years of service from it. The only issue that I found with the new rod is that the hook-keeper is mounted to the rear of the reel seat, which could cause one to get a hook in one's hand if they aren't careful. I resolved the issue by installing a FUJI EZ-Keeper above the handle on the upper rod butt. I highly recommend the Mojo Bass spinning rods, as I have five of them, plus five Triumphs, an Avid, and a Legend Elite.
